Right now I have a 770 Math 2 and 670 Lit. Should I not submit the lit since subject tests are optional? Or should I just submit it?

That’s a quote from a news article about Harvard’s recent decision to make SAT Subject Tests optional. The underlying reason is cost – SAT Subject Tests are expensive to take, so Harvard is trying to reduce the financial burden on students that cannot afford the tests. Submitting just your 770 would indicate that money was not an issue for taking the Math 2 test, so Admissions might question why you didn’t have the money to submit a second test. So, I would say your choices come down to: Submitting ALL your scores or NONE of your scores. Given those choices, I would submit both scores.

I see Gibby’s logic but I sense that if you really can’t afford the tests it would be apparent in other parts of your app and you would have requested an application fee waiver (don’t know if they see that though). It’s a tough call (hence your post) but I think you should probably just send the 770 and definitely take another subject test in Dec… You should have two good scores for your RD schools anyway. Actually, I guess we should first ask what were your ACT or SAT I scores? The answer may make the decision what to do clearer.

I have a 2200 superscore 770 M 700 CR 730 W

Thanks, I would say to send the 770 in but that’s just my opinion. Also, I do think you should try to get one more SAT score of 750 or higher.

^ya i decided to just send one. Thanks for the helpful responses!
