let's say im applying to a college that requires three SAT 2s and i take 4. do i have to send all of them, or just 3?

you can send as many or as few as you want

It depends on the individual college’s policy. Some require you submit every score, others let you choose. But even if they require you to send all scores, they will only consider your highest ones.

Can someone help me understand the SAT Subject test reporting system? If my son takes the Biology SAT subject test and say the Algebra II SAT subject test, does he have a choice to report one, two or none with his college application? OR does the testing center send all SAT Subject scores with your regular SAT scores??

I guess my real question is, if you dont’ have to send SAT subject scores with your regular SAT scores, it can’t hurt to try taking them. Is this correct???

If college does not require subjects tests, should they not be sent? (710 MathII, 710 Hist, 600 Physics–yuck)

^^ Michelina,
A few colleges require you to send in all scores. Most don’t, and with the College Board’s Score Choice policy you can pick and choose. If your son takes two SAT IIs on the same day, he can choose whether to submit one score, both, or neither. You can send SAT II scores along with any or all SAT I scores, or separately. Just keep in mind that you need to pay for each score report, so if you send the scores separately you’ll end up paying more.

^ ELY,
It probably doesn’t hurt to send Subject Test scores to a school that doesn’t require them, but if you’re applying to some Mega State U that is processing tens of thousands of applications under a by-the-number approach, they’re probably not even going to look at them. Smaller schools or any school that says it uses a “holistic” approach in admissions will look at them. Your Math II and History scores are quite good and might help you at most schools, though not the most selective. I probably wouldn’t bother sending i that Physics score.
