i got a subway violation ticket ($100 fine) back in 2009, and today during my RIT application i faced this question
"Have you ever been subject to disciplinary action by any school, college or university, or convicted of any state or federal law other than a minor traffic violation? "

i dont know what to put, yes,or no? i really dont think a subway ticket is a HUGE deal, can it be considered as a minor violation?...plzz...help!!
p.s: i was underage (17) when i got that ticket..i am still 17 right now.

Do you have a copy of the ticket?
Was the ticket for a violation of state or federal law?
Look at the ticket to see the specific code citation.
It would be my guess that your subway violation was of a municipal code, and you wouldn’t have to report it.
The juvenile issue isn’t relevant for this purpose.

I am guessing this was a misdemeanor and not a worry. It is in the same class as a traffic ticket. Did you have to go to court, or did you just mail in the fine (if you did go to court, was it mandatory?) If court was not necessary, then it sounds like a misdemeanor to me.

i was not obliged to report to the court. i had 1 month to pay the fee via mail, or apply for a hearing to the transportation authority, which i did. i lost the hearing and paid the fine.
