submit a low sat score along with high sat subject tests? or high sat with no subjects?

i’ve put myself in a bit of a pickle. what would you do in this situation?

i only have one sat score which is a 1400/1600 on the new sat. it’s now that time of the year in which i have to begin the college application process and i’m realizing that I should have retaken it earlier for a better score. all of the colleges i’m applying to accept the january sat. the most selective colleges on my application list accept the february act and none of the colleges i’m referring to “require” the subjects test – although they are either recommended or considered. my question to you is…

should I send in my 1400 new sat score with perfect, god willing, subject tests, chemistry, math 2 and literature, and then aim for a perfect act score to send to the more selective universities?

-or-

should I send in my 1400 new sat score and then send in a second sat score, with better results, with no sat subject tests; and then take the act for the more selective universities?

disclaimer: the reason for my low sat has nothing to do with my academic capabilities. i’m a high achieving student. I just could have benefited from better use of my time during the exam – something that is now known through this experience. the rest of my application is solid.

1400 is a good score. Send it along your subject tests. Send the January Sat results too, tongue top colleges on your list.
