On the common app, if it says that your teacher has already submitted his/her rec does that mean the schools on your list already have them and are now putting the recs in a file just for you?

Also, can you send test scores to the colleges first, and then send the common app and supplement in?

I can’t answer the first question. You might try asking it in the Common App forum.

You can send test scores to colleges at just about any time. Many students send test scores to schools to which they later decide not to apply. There are no consequences save whatever cost you incurred (if any) in sending the scores. The school will open up a folder for you (or some electronic analog) and keep them until other documents arrive–if you should decide to send them.

Most colleges tend to wait until the applicant has submitted their common app before actually downloading and printing the teacher recommendation. It sort of a time saver for them – if you never press the button, then they don’t have to bother printing it out.

Yes, you can send your test scores to colleges before sending in the common app or supp.

It depends. Some colleges want you submit the supplement first (and pay when you submit it), others want you to submit the common app first (and pay when you submit it).

Common app is not free.
The fee will vary depending on the school.

You can however, submit from your high school with you GC and your parent can pay for it at home. The app won’t go into the cue for downloading/printing until its paid.

Schools status will show as having Dowloaded your app (time/date stamp- you will be able to track that) AFTER you paid for the app and have submitted your Common App and Supplment.

If your school uses the app / naviance etc features and all of the recs get uploaded into the file…then those will be printed with the app After you paid for it all…

If your school snail mails the LORs…those will be matched to your app…as per above…only when your app is paid/downloaded.

AdComs sort 1000s of files so until they have your paid app…they aren’t creating a file for you waiting for things…

Double check each section and your essays etc.
You Cannot revise anything for the app to the university once you submit.

Wait, so let me clarify: you have to pay for both the common app and supplement to be sent? Do you have to pay them separately (that is, do they charge separate fees)?

No they do not charge separate fees. Whatever application a college requires you to submit first – be it the common app or the supplement – that first submission requires full payment, or a fee waiver.

BTW: Applying to colleges is VERY expensive. Last year, my son applied to 13 colleges through the common app, which cost our family about $1,000.
