So I just submitted a 700 words essay and I was wondering how do the admission officers will react. I knew it was a really bad decision to go-over the limit about 200 words, but I had no way to shorten my essay without weaken its message whatsoever. My Common App essay is also around 650-ish. Anyone in the past were admitted with a 700-ish words supplemental essay?

I’m sure you’ll be fine, but in these types of cases, the essay can usually be perceived as wordy unless you had something extraordinary to say that couldn’t be more concise than it already is.

They’re looking for brevity, and a succinct essay in general “keywords taken from their website.” If you accomplished, this regardless of the essays being >500 words, it won’t look quite as bad as a general “eh 800 words submit it anyways,” but I’d still strongly recommend keeping within the limits.
They know what they’re doing though, and will still fairly view your application. No need to worry about it now, just time to enjoy a few months of freedom :D

Many accepted students go over 500. So for someone who’s already submitted their app, there is no reason to worry. Still, I think the best advice for future applicants is to adhere to the limit.
