Submitted Application on Jan 1, still got an interview

I submitted my Common app and the supplement of January 1st, 3 weeks after the interview deadline. Should this boost my confidence or is it just luck?

Uh.. I have a 29 ACT and I got one, too, and I submitted after the 'interview deadline'. I guess it's normal.

it depends on where you live, and how many interviews your local alumni chapter can handle.

people are saying that it's not important to have an interview.. so why are some interviews optionals some recommended ( Duke)and some requested( Georgetown)? If the Duke's interview is recommended and my D did not get one, it could be a bad sign isn't it?

I submitted 12/29 and haven't gotten an interview, but my friend who submitted before me got one...is it by alphabetically? I thought they give all students an interview?

My D applied after the interview deadline, didn't really want one, but got one anyway. It went just ok, but she still got in. I think the only was it could be even a LITTLE "bad" is if your offered one and decline. It seems to depend a lot on the availability of alumni interviewers in your area.

Ha! Son submitted prior to deadline and hasn't heard a thing about the interview! Probably should be concerned, huh?

i think we should be concern if we didn't get one because Duke's interview is recommended, especially if you live like me in a big city and especially if everyone you know in your own HS got one.. but you! well ...i will survive!

LaVie: I would say son is in the same situation.. we live in a big city, applied prior to the deadline and have heard nothing. I know nothing about the rest of his high school.

Are you going to call and inquire?

-d101parent: i don't know if calling will change anything? if they decided not to interview my D they surely know why... maybe she is over qualified or maybe she is already rejected!! i don't think it's because they forgot or they mistook her or something.. i think she did not get contacted for a reason and calling won't change that! are you going to call? let me know their answer! good luck

Admissions makes an effort to interview ALL applicants. If you haven't been contacted, it's not because they've decided you unworthy. Most likely, the fault is either an oversight by the head of the Alumni Advisory Committee in your area or the alumnus assigned to contact you is busy and/or lax. The interview season doesn't end until February 15th. So there is still time. Meanwhile, I think you should make a call if you're feeling anxious about it. It couldn't hurt.

^^^Thanks for the advice. I went ahead and called and was told to wait until the end of the month. If we haven't heard anything by then, to call back and they'll check into it.

thanks for all the information .. we'll call next week to see what's going on!

i haven't heard anything yet, and i applied on like december 6th and was nominated for the robertson scholars' by my high school. and everytime i call they say i "should hear soon" should i keep pushing or just wait?

I got one and I applied to Duke at the last minute, seriously! Lol, on the application status it says they have everything as well, which is just surprising!

Mine is with Daniel Wagner. Anyone here already have theirs?

yeah i dont understand how they do things....I submitted Nov 30 and still have not been contacted...its really frustrating too cause ppl in my school who submitted waaaaaaaaaayyyyy after me already had their interviews :(
