Hey guys, I applied to Rutgers Early Action on October 28th, and I'm still waiting for a response. I was reviewing my app just because I was bored and curious and I noticed my submitted essay has random upside question marks scattered around my essay. There's about 6-7 of them and I am currently freaking out because it looks very bad. It seems like the question marks replaced quotation marks and apostrophes I used in the essay. Will this affect the way they see my application? Should I call to have this fixed?

“Due to errors in the text-to-PDF conversion process, you may see essays with odd formatting, including inconsistent fonts and errant paragraph breaks. We understand that students have no control over this formatting and admission offices will not penalize students for a technical problem that is out of their control. If you otherwise are happy with your application, please do not hesitate to submit your application.”

You are fine. Colleges are aware of these issues with the Common App.
