I'm a california resident applying to the UCs. I've submitted my FAFSA already and its been approved. However, my FAFSA app currently contains best estimates because my parents haven't filed their taxes with the IRS yet. I know that I can change my FAFSA details and get them approved whenever I want, but will my award money be lower if my parents file their taxes later rather than sooner? the deadline here for filing a FAFSA is March 2nd... does that mean that they want my parents to file their taxes by March 2nd as well? Or is the deadline only for the preliminary submission of the FAFSA application? Thanks!

You probably will not get an actual award until your parents file their taxes. In addition, many schools are now requiring that you now use the IRS data retrieval tool lin order to verify you for federal aid. It takes approximately 10 days after your parents file their taxes to access the data retrieval tool.
