I am applying for Rice University for Early Decision. I think rice wants to see all the scores for SAT and stuff. But does that include SAT Subject test too or does it only mean the regular SAT? I just don’t want them to see my 500 on my US history test and 720 on my math (Yup. I am not smart sigh). I am fine with submitting all of the classic SAT’s(which is not the best either). I tried searching this up but didn’t find quite the right answer.
Well, you can always call them and ask. But here’s my interpretation (emphasis mine):

So IMO, Rice knows that “should” and “must” are two different verbs and are not synonymous. Few colleges, even when they require all SAT/ACT scores, require all subject test scores. So I think you are safe to exclude the 500. But again, just my interpretation.
lol yea. I was actually confused at the same point. Is there a consequence if the college requires and you don’t give all scores?
@Ineffable-Life sats or Act’s are required and sat II’s are recommended and if you don’t send it says you won’t be penalized. My son sent his ACT and never sent sat II because he didn’t like the physics score and he still got in.
When we send SAT II scores, can we just send one from a specific test date? I took two tests sophomore year but did really badly on them, so I dont want to send these. The two I want to send are from June 2017, so can I just send scores from that test date or do I have to include all of them?
@jsca17 -If you would like a definitive answer, call Rice admissions and ask. It is definitely clear that Rice wants the full testing history of the SAT I or ACT. But given that subject tests are now recommended but not required (and they just changed them to recommended even if taking the ACT, which is a recent change in policy that many 2022 applicants weren’t planning for), and given that I can’t even think of another college that requires submission of all subject test scores when the scores are recommended and not required, I agree with skieurope’s interpretation.
Last year my daughter sent all of her ACT scores and scores from the 2 SAT subject tests she did the best on, and she was admitted. She applied to the school of humanities, and the 2 SAT subject tests she sent happened to be in the humanities area. That was before Rice added the “recommended” test language for the various schools. See the link above in @skieurope’s comment.
From a College Board perspective, you can pick and choose Subject Tests scores from the same date. However, if a particular college wants all scores, then obviously this would not be an option.
