Submitting both my SAT and ACT scores?

Hey guys, I just have a quick question.

I’ve always had the idea that you had to take both the SAT and ACT for college admissions. Turns out you only need one most of the time. I was wondering if it helps or hurts in any way if you submit both scores while one score may not be on the same level as the other.

For the November SAT this year, I fortunately scored a 2400. I haven’t taken the ACT with writing yet (I got a 34 without writing), but I was planning to take it soon. If I hypothetically get a 34 or 35 on the ACT with writing, does it benefit me in any way if I submit it alongside my SAT score? Is it even necessary?

Sorry if this is a dumb question. I’m just curious.

Send the SAT score and be done. Colleges do not require both. Your score as you know is excellent. Congrats.

Really? Wow, thanks for the quick response nubble! I appreciate it!

definitely agreed with @nubble16

OP, why would you think you need to submit any ACT score alongside a 2400? Submit the SAT and be done.

I don’t know. I sort of just assumed that both were required.

Would it be slightly more impressive to submit both if both scores are high? Or would it be a complete waste of time, effort, and money if I wanted to take the ACT again and attempt to get a 35 or 36?

The difference between a 33, 34, 35, and 36 is marginal, as is the difference between a 2200, 2300, and 2400. To be completely honest with you, a multitude of individuals who take the SAT more than once will have scored in the 2150s or so and then in the 2300s.

Colleges understand that variation exists. Your score is fantastic and demonstrates more than competence - you’ll be fine. No need to improve your ACT score or retake with Writing. 33-36 and 2200-2400, so I’ve heard from some alumni, GCs, etc., are viewed equally.
