Submitting different common app essays

I was wondering if it's still possible to submit two different common app essays to different colleges. I'm applying to Stanford early, if I submit the common app essay I have right now will I be forced to use the exact same version for my RD applications? Thanks guys.

After each submission of the Common App, the essay is “locked.” It can be unlocked and edited a maximum of two times for submission to other colleges. So an applicant could have up to three different versions of the essay that get submitted to three or more different schools. Unlimited edits are allowed for other parts of the Common App.

Oh alright I see. That’s somewhat odd, but thank you!

We should have this on the sticky as there is at least one thread for the same question everyday.

People would still ask the question, but a sticky would make it easier to answer- “read the sticky.”

My bad. I didn’t see it on the forum and I didn’t think it would be that common of a question. It should be stickied, considering there is such a specific response.

Is this still the case for the 2016 application, and how do I request that it be unlocked?
