Hello everyone. My son has a dilemma. He wants to apply early decision to his dream school and he decided to make an website dedicated to just that school. He’s convinced that will help. He is using the coalition app, and he wants to put that link at “additional information/documents/whatever” spot. However, that school is a long shot and obviously he doesn’t want to send the website to the other schools he’s applying to.
Anyone knows if it’s possible, in the coalition application, to submit some additional information to some colleges and not to others, or it’s just one “send” button that sends everything all the same to all colleges? We logged in but we are not at the “send” place so it’s not clear.
Any solutions for this? I thought the only solution would be to apply to the others through the Common App but that means the teachers would need to send the letters twice. Can he submit to the other colleges first, through coalition, and then add the additional info after and send it to his dream school?
Sounds like “trying too hard” to me.And I seriously doubt that it will help.
I agree but I can’t convince him . In this situation is there a way?
I don’t know the coalition app so i’m not sure about this but there is a hack you can do with the common app. Fill out the common app for the dream school. Put whatever you want in there as far as your essay, how you describe your ECs, particular references that you think might score with that school, etc. When you turn it in, you’ll see “submitted” next to the school name. Now wait for it to say “downloaded” (that can take from a day until a week). Once that has happened, it means that the school has downloaded your application and the common app part is over for them. NOW you can go back in and change whatever and then begin submitting to the new colleges.
(but noting again that I don’t know if this works with the coalition app).
There is for the Common App, as outlined above. I would assume it’s similar with the Coalition App, but I have never used that.
Yes, you can submit new and different information to a new and different college by changing the application, whether you use Common App or Coalition App. However, no AO from any college will click on the web links you provide in an application, however you provide it. It’s just totally unsafe and against their internal IT policies.
