So I've been potentially contemplating taking the ACT in October rather than trying to gain a few more points on the SAT. I already have a 1530/2300 SAT, so I don't think trying to raise that higher would do much good. What about taking the ACT though? Supposing I got around a 34/35 score, which in the conversion table is on par with a 2300, would this look any better on an application than solely the SAT score?

A 2300 is a very competitive score. Assuming you’re applying to highly selective colleges, you’ll be fine as they only want to see if you pass a certain threshold (which you certainly do by a milestone).

I can’t stress this enough but standardized tests do not weigh that much with applications. I would advise taking the ACT and just allot your time focusing on essays, extracurriculars, securing LOR’s etc. 34/35 will not look that much better. Again, your current score will suffice!

I don’t want to be that guy, but what makes you think you’ll get a 35 if you got such a mediocre SAT score?

What are you talking about? A 2300 isn’t mediocre. Stop ■■■■■■■■.
