did any of you guys submit another essay? it asks for additional info at the end, but i'm not sure what to include. i kind of want to send another essay in that space, but i don't know if they want it or not. did most of you ignore the "additional info" part, or what kind of stuff did you put? i'm not really sure what they're asking for. please help. thanks.

i sent a letter and some additional testing

ooo i just put that i was re-taking the SAT II Writing test and the SAT II Math IIC test on the November test date (i applied early). i wouldn't suggest sending in an extra essay written by you, but hey that's my opinion. but then again if you send it in and they don't read it, then whatever, because i don't think they automatically reject you if you send in an extra essay. anyone else have an opinion?

I wouldn't send an extra essay in MY app. Columbia seems to want to limit material coming in. The FAQ is pretty clear about that. But, if you really want to, go ahead. The essay matters a lot in deciding which applicants to take, since pretty much everyone qualifies. Maybe this is what can make you stand out?

bouncingkoala, what "space" are you talking about? The only space I found was the 3/4 space for the essay.

are youdoing it online?

yeah, i'm doing it online. i'm just afraid everyone else wrote an awesome essay for the "additional info" part and i'll be the only one who doesn't send anything else in. okay, since nobody else did it, i feel better.

I am, but just to explain a few things, not an essay though. Just a paragraph or two.

Don't send an extra esssay. Put down something you'd want them to see, thats not on the application. Example) AP Scores. I think an extra formal essay would be looked down upon.

i'm doing an ec/awards sheet

I was going to add something, but then i realized two things. First, I didn't do very many engineering things that weren't alreadyt described in my essays, since I'm SEAS. Then, I realized they said they didn't want you to attach something. SEAS admissions are probablhy more score based, so it doesn't hurt me too much, but for College I think sending a resume would be somewhat important. You should anyways if its important stuff.
