Submitting information after applying.

I submitted my application for a transfer over a month back. However two days back I was informed that I have been selected for an Internship at Microsoft Research Labs for summer 2011. I am applying as Comp Sci major and to put the worth of this internship in perspective: Prof. John Hopcroft (Cornell university) said, "We have never rejected anyone who has interned at MSR because we know that they select the best". This intern would increase my chances of transferring multifold. Is it possible to add this information now to my application?

Thanks
Karthik

PS: I have applied to MIT, Harvard, Cornell, Yale and Dartmouth.

I think it’s definitely possible, but I’m not sure if it would drastically change the result of the decision–if you scored the internship, the reason should show through your transfer application. If you’re waitlisted, it might tip you over the edge when they’re reviewing the updates more thoroughly. But if the internship is as prestigious as you say it is (I wouldn’t know), I have a hard time believing Harvard would reject you. Send it in–it can’t hurt.

Although I do doubt that a prof at Cornell would come out and make such a huge blanket statement about accepting students who’ve done this internship…

Well he did say it. And it is incredibly difficult to get it. I must say I am really lucky. This year 4 undergraduates were selected (across the world) and I am the youngest.

Well, there is no doubt that you should tell them about this; but, unfortunately, at this point, I think it might be a little too late seeing as how decisions will come out in about 2 days.

Anyway, congrats!

I am applying for a transfer. Results are out in June, I suppose.

Oh, well, guess I can’t read. Anyway, yeah, you should inform your schools and make sure you also give them background on how difficult it is to get this internship.

Oh, I totally forgot about the transfer notification dates. In that case, DEFINITELY send it in–they’re probably still sifting through transfer applications.

So how do I go about the entire thing?
Whom do I contact? And how should I add this information- as in how do I present it?

Well done man, that is awesome.

Find an email address/phone number in the transfer admission offices and call to ask.

People in this forum are high school students applying to college for the first time, so you’ll probably find those more knowledgeable about your situation in the transfer forum :).
