Submitting music portfolio in foreign genre of music?

I’m applying to MIT’s class of 2024, and am strongly interested in submitting a music portfolio in Carnatic music (a form of Indian classical music).

However, I’m not sure if MIT allows a portfolio in a foreign genre of music, and can’t seem to find any further info about this online. There’s certainly no indication that they wouldn’t allow foreign genres, but also nothing stating that they do. Many other universities do explicitly list the genres of music they allow in portfolios.

So does anyone have information about what forms/genres of music MIT allows for music portfolios? Will they allow Carnatic music specifically?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!

I think that as long as you play an instrument, you can submit a music portfolio, no matter the genre. On the portfolio, you are asked is to insert what instrument you play , a rec letter from your teacher, and then 2 recordings of you playing.
