If I submitted the Princeton prompt "Tell us about a person who has influenced you in a significant way" to Yale, would the adcoms care? Some of the essay books I've read talk about how adcoms know the essay prompts of peer colleges.

I think with that prompt you would be okay. I wouldn’t recommend using the Princeton prompts that involve a quote for Yale though

Plus that prompt is also on the Common App. As far as a Yale adcom can tell, maybe you wrote two personal essays for Common App, and used one for their supplement.

I was considering reusing mine as well. Though I discussed an experience that changed how I approach the world.

Yeah that’s true. I think it’s fine

Thanks for the responses. Just to be clear, I would be using this for the Yale supplement essay. I’m not using it for the common app.

Does that change anything?

No it doesn’t change anything. I merely meant that you wouldn’t necessarily be stealing a prompt from Princeton to use on your Yale supplement. (Princeton’s prompt happens to appears as one of the six choices on the Common App personal essay.)

okay, thanks for the response.
