Submitting research material

On the supplement it says, "If you are submitting research materials for review, please include a short statement putting the research
project into the context of your academic interests and future plans"

where do we include the short statement? I already wrote something in the optional essay, so can I add it there? The "Explain" blank under "other" is way too short to explain anything. It's only long enough to write in "research paper".

My D included that statement with the research material she sent by mail.

Shoot, I already submitted my research material. I always thought that “Explain” blank was used for this =/

You could send it in separately, clearly marked with your name, ID#, school name, and what it is…with a mention that it’s to be added to what you already sent. Doubtful that Harvard will start evaluating immediately, and a letter will take a few days to get there at most.
Or you could send by email (stating please add to app materials) with attachment. Or you could add it, as you said, to or after your essay, on the upload.
Or you could let it go, it really doesn’t constitute a major part of your app. If you wrote about your research in your supp essay, it would cover it well enough.

I sent in extra research material. I just sent it along with a letter that explained what I sent, why, and what I did. Then I included the information along with it.
