So I was thinking about whether to focus on the next ACT (score=31) or the next SAT(score=2020). I've looked at Rice's webby before and it said, "submit the SAT or ACT". Well looking on this site: Rice University - Average SAT Scores 96% of applicants send in their SAT scores, while 34% send in their ACT. Well the numbers don't add up, unless you can submit both, but is there a preference that everyone supposedly knows?

Yes, you can submit both. No, Rice does not have a preference as to which test’s scores you send. Otherwise they would either note that preference or only request that test’s scores.

Good luck!

Yes you can submit both. The SAT is just a better known and publicized test, which is why almost everyone takes it. Rice takes the better of the two scores if you submit both

As far as I can tell, Rice has no test preference.
I only took the ACT and was accepted ED this year.

@FallenAngel9: I thought they would state a preference if there was one present too, but the scores vs. the statement… had to make sure. Thanks for the luck, I’ll need it ^^
@Antarius: Right, the percentages say that it is more well known. I thought the huge slant also indicated that it is more well known and preferred.
@academician11: What did you get on the ACT? I don’t know anyone that got accepted this year. Gonna aim for your number, I really hope it isn’t a 36.

25% of the admitted class scored above a 34 while 25% scored below a 31 in 2010 on the ACT

I was rejected with a 34, so aim high. ;)

don’t worry about that ^^ though, I was accepted RD with a 34! i honestly don’t think scores are an end-all-be-all, especially not for Rice, so just send what you have!

Accepted with a 32 so scores really aren’t everything, just aim high
