Submitting scores to Yale

Hi,
I’m not sure if this has been asked before, but I submit my ACT score to Yale and submit my SAT subject tests, do I also have to submit my SAT scores as well? I know that Yale allows for the use of score choice on SAT subject tests when submitting all SAT scores, but I was wondering if that also applied for ACT scores.

On the website, it says:

“Yale does participate in Score choice for the reporting of SAT Subject Tests. You may wait to receive your score results before deciding which scores, if any, you would like to send to Yale. Please keep our deadlines in mind, however, as you consider that option. If you are applying Early Action to Yale and are taking Subject Tests on the November test date, we do not recommend using Score Choice. For November results to be considered by the admissions committee we need to receive them as soon as they are available. If you are submitting all of your ACT with writing results, you may send whatever SAT Subject Tests you like and you are not required to submit any SAT scores…”

Does this mean I can submit my ACT scores, and my two SAT subject test scores without needing to submit any SAT scores? Thanks, any help would be greatly appreciated.

That is exactly what the text says.

“If you are submitting all of your ACT with writing results, you may send whatever SAT Subject Tests you like and you are not required to submit any SAT scores”

Yup. Submit your ACT and SAT Subject tests. You don’t need to submit your SAT I scores.

Yale is actually schizophrenic. Go here http://admissions.yale.edu/faq/standardized-testing and open the next to last Q which says the opposite of what is said on the Yale website page you site, in that it says Yale requires you to send either all ACT tests, or, alternatively, both all SATs and SAT subject tests, and thus if you send any subject tests you must send all SATs and all subject tests.

I guess you can look it at this way: this is what happens when elitist academics try to make simple rules. I think you are fine following the rule stated on the website page you cited and can choose to send whatever subject tests you want to send with the ACT amd not send any SATs. In any event, Yale could not in good faith claim you did wrong by following the web page you site.

Thanks for all the responses.

@drusba Yeah, that is kind of confusing. In the end, I decided to just send all of my scores to Yale. Better to just play it safe.
