Is there anything my daughter can do to get her 1st quarter senior year grades seen by her ED1 school when her school only submits junior year grades and senior semester 1 grades upon request (too late for ED1)?
Some colleges require Q1 updates for any early applicant. Some high schools send Q1 updates for all early applicants whether the college requests them or not. Some colleges ask certain applicants for Q1 updates.
So your kid can ask the GC to send. Whether the college will consider them is outside her control.
My S has a similar situation for RD, he wants his first semester grades considered by admissions and the application due date for some schools is before the official transcript is available. He has contacted a few adcoms to inquire and they have said email them personally after submitting your application and they will make a note of it. Then send the grades on ASAP. Hope that helps.
Can she ask her guidance counselor to send them to her ED school?
I wish. Her guidance counselor said the school will not do that. This is an urban district that runs on a deficit mentality. I contacted my daughter’s ED college AO though, and he said she can make a pdf or word doc of her grade report and send it in unofficially. So she’ll do that.
It’s a bummer to see how different it is to apply from this HS as opposed to a private or richer suburban HS. The diversity is a great experience for my daughter, but the college admissions help is bare bones.
Glad you found a way to get the information to the school.
