Submitting SIR.

So.. I'm currently attending UCSC and got accepted as a transfer student to Davis.
I was wondering what would happen if I submitted my SIR to Davis and decided not to go. Would I still be able to stay at Santa Cruz?

I don’t know.

But ask yourself this: does taking that course of action sound like a good idea?

you’re losing 30 or something more bucks dude. Don’t do it!

You have until June 1st assuming this is the deadline for all UC’s to receive your SIR. You have over a month left to decide. Like previous posts say, don’t waste your money on a SIR unless you are absolutely sure you’re going. Take your time, but not too long!

30 Bucks vs Two years of my life? I’d rather pay the SIR fee just to make sure.

@raymonstah - It’s actually $100 at all UC campuses.

But you will be notified when filling out the SIR if you qualify for a deferral so you don’t have to pay it.

Thanks for your help guys, but does anyone have a solid answer?
Case 1: Pay the $100, and your decision is final, you must go to Davis.
Case 2: Pay the $100, but you can take back the decision and stay in Santa Cruz (if you decide to).

Or should I take this question to the admission officers?
Thanks again.

The answer is Case 2, so when you think about it you are paying $100 to buy an option @ UCDavis. When you consider the valuable of the option (from a financial POV) is not that bad deal.

However, I must ask… you have until June 1st to decide… why do you need more time??

What’s your major?

I need more time for personal reasons. Computer Science is my major. Thank you for the answer.

I don’t have a solid answer, but I know you can’t SIR to 2 UCs, so it stands to reason that you can’t be enrolled in 1 and SIR another. I mean obviously you’re fine with your current semester/ quarter, but you may run into problems when trying to register for your next classes.

If you ever watched adam sandler the water boy, you know there is a quote that says “what mamma don’t know won’t hurt her” If you really need more time SIR, and contrary to popular belief you can SIR to more than one school… however is strongly frowned upon by the UC’s
