I plan on taking the ACT in October. However, many of the priority and early deadlines for colleges fall on November 1st, well before the scores for the ACT in October are released.
Obviously then, I won’t be able to give the college my October ACT score before the deadline. Can I still submit the ACT score to these colleges after I submit my priority application? Will they reconsider college scholarships? What exactly do I put on the “ACT Score” section when I submit the application?
I hope that’s understandable, and that it isn’t too many questions. Thanks a bunch for the help!
It depends on the college. You need to look it up on each website to see what is the last testing date each accepts for early deadlines. Generally, if you take the test before the application deadline, they will wait for the scores to come in. But I would verify, just to be sure.
Check the colleges you are considering. Most EA and ED colleges accept through the October ACT test for EA or ED. The test score can arrive after the app deadline. Many of those even accept the Nov SAT. When applying you can mention that you will be or have taken the Oct test. You obviously cannot put in a score for it.
.
There are a small number, such as UIUC and UMich, which require scores to be in their hands by Nov 1 for EA and the Oct ACT is too late for those. Those colleges all tell you on their sites that the Oct ACT is too late…
