Substance Free Housing at Washington and Lee

I know there has already been a thread about this, but it was posted over 10 years ago at this point, so I decided to make a new one. Basically, I would like to know what the substance free housing is like at Washington and Lee. I’m someone who is very outgoing and friendly, but I won’t appreciate loud drunk people at two in the morning when I’m trying to sleep or when I have to study for a test. With that being said, I also don’t necessarily want to be in a hall where everyone is extremely conservative and antisocial. I hope that makes sense and all input is appreciated!

Substance-free halls at W&L are very interesting. I am in one, and have friends who are in others. Even if you drink, but maybe don’t want to go out as much or just want to hang out with some different people, they are a good alternative. They can, however, be a bit isolating (especially the one on the fourth floor of Gaines). Most people who are in a subfree hall don’t rush, and it can be harder to rush if you are in one - although many people do end up rushing, you just have to make a little bit more effort.

Also, the conservativeness aspect really depends on the hall. My hall is one of the most liberal at W&L, while the other subfree tended to attract the religious, Christian students.
