Since I've been frustrated with a lot these past few years, struggling to meet my goals, I'd like to hear "success stories" after failure.

Of course, I'm mostly thinking of people who had difficulties in college but came back "in real life" or returned to school somehow - but anything goes! :)

I don’t know if mine is total failure…I had a terrible freshmen year, and had to leave campus for severe medical issues. Ended up worrying for several months, going to community college and thinking that it would be extremely difficult to get in anywhere, especially after going to two colleges in two years. Applied to several schools as a transfer student, and ended up getting into a better school than my first one, and I am going to be paying less for it. Honestly, I met a lot of students at community college who inspired me. Recovering alcoholics, kids who barely made it through high school alive, or people who hadn’t gone to college in twenty years were coming back and making something for themselves.
Never give up. Only you can hold yourself back.

Suffering a high school junior year full of anxiety and depression and barely passing two classes, while getting C’s in another despite usually being a good student is the basis of my story.

Then I signed up for an even harder schedule senior year, which included chem 1 and 2 at the honors program of my local university as well as as an AP physics C exam (mechanics) I self studied for because YOLO! I ended up doing very well with mostly A’s. Senior year, calculus BC has been my only B. My turn around is due to discovering what I like and learning to cherish the life of the mind.

Of course, I intend to keep self studying over the summer and avoid getting any B’s next year in college. I’ve done so much as it is in only a year and there’s still room for improvement.

Not very exciting, but I had a rough (academically and emotionally/mentally) freshman year of HS and ended up with a 2.7. Sophomore year didn’t improve much, but I learned how to love school again thanks to an amazing teacher and got a 3.0 for that year.

This year…3.6 uw in all honors, I feel great about my school work, was just named group commander and i’m ready to work my butt off my senior year to bring my GPA up a little more. I have a plan mapped out, finances squared away, and i’m ready for this fall when it comes to applying. Sometimes people are amazed when I tell them I didn’t do so hot early on, but I just worked really hard and had some great people behind me to help me out.
