Success: CSU to UC Transfer

Just got in this evening at UCI from CSUF. 3.68 Political Science major.

congrats.

i guess csu to uc is possible.

i’ll spread the word.

Great news! And congrats!

My friend last year transferred from SDSU to UCLA w/ a 3.5. It can be done! Keep hope alive! Is there any other csu transfers that applied to UCLA?

^^
Yep! And I’m applying from SDSU too. Thanks for the hope! haha

did you have all of your pre-reqs done?

I applied from Cal Poly SLO. Trying to transfer to UCLA

no. haa… yeah, bad i know. 3.95 though. but i’m a Communication major soooo we’ll see how that works out for me! ha

65dos did you complete your pre-reqs?

Honestly, only about half of them. I think I have a far bit of work ahead at UC. I didn’t have a counselor or anyone guiding my admissions–unlike at CC where I probably would have had quite a bit of guidance in pre-req completion.

Yeah that’s the same position I’m in…I’m hoping I can get in without having all of them done.
I’m at UCSC and applied to UCLA as an American Literature and Culture major.
I’m worried though because I was only able to complete two pre-reqs, (the other two are one year long survey and a language requirement which I know can be done at UCLA).
I called the admissions office and she said it’s okay because it’s a less competitive major, but I’m still worried because it’s difficult to get in from another UC as it is.
I have a 3.83, 4.0 and 3.9 last two quarters (with upper divisions) and completed all of my GE’s.

Seems like you got into a compacted major without completing your pre-req’s from a Cal State- so you are giving me hope right now!!!

Yeah, all this Pre-Req discussion seems a bit obtuse, particularly because it appears as though the first people admitted were those who didn’t have theirs completely done. I would think you have a better shot than I being at a UC already. Good luck to you Blain!

thanks 65 and congrats to you!!!

Hello, 65dos I’m also a CSU to UC transfer hopeful, hehe. I did not finsh all of my prerequisites, probably about 9/10 for biological sciences. I attend CSU pomona, it’s a decent school, the people there are nice, and it’s very possible to become top 10% of all the classes with hard work ethics; but, I am ready to move on to a school with more opportunities and prestige. I only heard from UCI so far, but I have pending status with UCSD, UCLA, UCB, and USC. The fact that I got into UCI is just amazing, since there arn’t many accounts of people from 4 year institutions transfering to the UC’s.
My GPA isn’t all that great either, it was 3.5 ish when I applied, and 3.6ish when I updated my grades in January. For the future CSU to UC transfers, it’s indeed possible; but it is a little more difficult to transfer than a CC transferee.
I think it’s easier to transfer from a 4 year insti. to a private school, though. I know a guy at my school that got accepted to cornell with around a 3.7 gpa in Biology a few days ago.

CSUF to UCLA hopefully! we will see
