Alas I made the foolish mistake of opting for student housing. I figured at the time I'd rather pay more to meet people and get myself established here (I'm a junior transfer). I was also suppose to get a lot more financial aid which ended up falling through for various reasons. Honestly I've interacted and found a better group of people outside my housing, couple that with the fact you pay a ridiculous amount of money to share a none air conditioned room, I figure it best to get the hell out if I can. Staying wouldn't be the end of the world, but I could be paying less for more.

I'm trying to gage the success people have had in canceling their contracts/leases. I realize if they don't find a replacement you have to pay, which is what I'm primarily worried about (I can't sustain paying for two places at once). To complicate matters I live at the Channing Bowditch apartments, so I'm not sure how easily they can find a replacement for me as I signed a 12 month lease (Same deal as res halls, I can cancel if they find a replacement, already looked into it).

So chuckle away, make your half assed remarks about the foolery of student housing if you must, and help a lad with the knowledge he so desperately craves.
