Success on ACT after SAT Prep?

I've studied for the SAT quite a bit, but my scores are not as good as I would have liked, so I'm trying the ACT. I've just begun studying for the ACT today and am wondering if anyone has any advice on what to focus on. Obviously the science is nonexistent on the SAT but other than that how are the other sections different from the SAT? Will my extensive SAT studying translate into my ACT score or will it be as if I'm starting form scratch? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

well definitely practice timing for science. it's what it all comes down to. you have to be able to do it fast.

Working on SAT writing will help you with english and the essay. The english is alllllll grammar and things like that so if you studied that stuff for SAT writing, then you'll probably be ok.

Working on Reading for the SAT isn't exactly like the reading for the ACT. I actually thought the reading for the ACT was easier even tho I didn't do as I wanted to...but like same kinda tips for that I guess

Math SAT and ACT Math aren't alike really. ACT math is much easier and I guess having prepared for SAT math might maek you prepared, but the ACT math doesn't cover as much if I remember correctly

it's the opposite. from my perspective, SAT math is tricky, yet simple math. if you can figure out the trap, you're good to go.

ACT math is a lot more straight forward, but it's a lot more extensive. it tests you on higher level math. it's not like, crazy calculus or anything though. just know your precalc if you want to score fairly high on the math section.

I studied a ton for SAT. Unfortunately, it didn't work out for me.

660M/640V/760W.

However, at the last minute in December, I decided to take ACTs. I studied the format mostly, for a couple hours tops, and I got a 32 :)

I think if you study for SATs, you will be fine. I would practice alot on the Science section though.

Gandhi! I had similar scores... 740V, 670 M and 670 W, I am taking ACTs this saturday. What can I do? What should I do this week to utilize my study time? Is it possible to pull off a 33? :O

i know a girl who got an 1100 after 2 yrs of sat prep but a 30 on the ACT, so I believe so

shoot. SAT prep got me a lousy 2060 on the SAt but i ended up with a final 34 composite on the ACT without much studying...i kinda crammed in one night the day before but that's pretty much it. That was my third time taking it though.

Just keep in mind 30 seconds per question on all reading sections (MAX - keep it shorter if possible & come back later).
