I sent in my request for a rescore a week ago to the PO box they tell you to send it to in Princeton, NJ and along with the request I sent the $25 check. Yet still according to the bank the check hasnt been cashed, how long does it take for them to start processing the request for rescore? I live in New Jersey so I thought it wouldnt take too long for them to receive it.

I live in California, and I mailed the checks on the 19th of July. They cashed my checks on August 2. Donāt worry, they will get around to it.

Got my AP rescore results back, my score stayed the same, a 3 =(. O well, I realize from the class how much I love chemistry and also I realize that itās for the best to retake it in college as I am going into a Chem E major. Better luck to the rest of those who rescored!

Got the rescore response letter (and the free response booklet) todayā¦ My AP World score remained the same: 2

Ugh. I guess Iāll just have to move on.

You and me too bro!

I got my AP rescore and free response booklet back tooā¦my score stayed the same for APUSH: a 3. Iām not happy, but I suppose thereās nothing left to do :/

Still havenāt got my free response booklet back.

My Daughter initially received a ā2ā on the US History exam despite high Aās in the class, a high SAT II score, and the feeling that she had done well on the exam. Her high school college counselor suggested that we contact the College Board to see if we could get an explanation as to āwhat happenedā, we suspected āmis-bubblingā on the MC section although she had never done that before, as nothing else made sense.

We ordered both the manual rescore of the MC section and a copy of the Free Response book. We received an email August 4th that our request had been received and was being processed. On August 16th we received her Free Response book. It contained no marks or comments just as they had told us, but at least we knew that it had not been lost and was āin the systemā.

Last night we received her rescore report via UPS Letter. Her āupdatedā score is a ā5ā.

According to the letter āDue to gridding errors or inconsistencies in the student information you supplied on your answer sheet, our automated scanning technology was unable to match your correcet AP US History multiple-choice answer sheet to your free-response record.ā ā¦āBecause we do not want students who make simple clerical mistakes on the answer sheet to lose points they might have received from their multiple-choice section,we manually match inconsistent multiple-choice answer sheets to the correct free-response scores over the summer,ā¦ā

I apologize for all of the detail, but I found information on this site to be VERY helpful and encouraging over 6-7 week period from the time my Daughter received her āunbelieveableā and quite frankly devastating score to the time we received the rescore results. I really did not think mistakes were ever made, and that the best that we could hope for was a āmis-bubblingā explanation. But mistakes DO happen.

This is what I have learned from this site and from the rescore request process.

If you receive a ā3ā or lower, but especially a ā1ā or ā2ā, and you have done well in the class, on practice tests, on the related SAT II, had a good feeling after the test, etc. DO REQUEST a rescore.

As I mentioned, we requested both the Free Response book($7.00) and a manual rescore of the MC section ($25.00). After reading this site and doing the āAP Passā calculator referenced in earlier posts, we held out hope that My Daughterās ā2ā was based on only one section of the exam. While the Free Response is not ārescoredā, and it has no markings/grade on it, by requesting and receiving it, we knew that it had not been lost and that her score on that section HAD been reported.

As you can tell by the letter we received, my Daughterās MC Section was NOT included in the score that was initially reported. While they seem to say that My Daughter did something wrong on the gridding and that THEY go in and try to match inconsistent multiple-choice answer sheets over the summer, the TRUTH is that they do NOTHING unless you request/pay for it. I believe that as they run thousands of answer sheets through the machine that quite a few are ākicked-outā, maybe for gridding errors, maybe because a page was bent, maybe exams were stuck together, who knows- but it looks like they just sit in an āunknown pileā until someone requests a rescore, then they are pulled out of the pile, manually scored( or run through the machine again), and matched with the recorded Free Response score. It is up to YOU to make sure you get credit. While it is annoying to have to pay for THEIR mistake/laziness, it is well worth it, even if your score does not change, you will have the peace of mind that both of your exam sections were counted and not just sitting in the āunknown pileā waiting to be discarded.

We faxed the request, paid by credit card, and called a few days afterwards to make sure they recived the request. Whatever you can to to expedite the process on your end will help speed the process on their end. We faxed the request on July 27th, sent an email on July 29th to verify receipt, received an email on July 30th verifying receipt, received an email August 4th stating that the rescore was in progress, received her Free Response book on August 16th, and finally, last night, August 27th, we received the Rescore results via UPS Letter. A 4-week process for us, and well worth the wait, expense.

Good Luck to all of you with your college applications and have GREAT, SAFE Senior Years -all too soon it will be time for your 35th High School Reunion !!!

Hi yeah i know tht this is last yrs thread but i really need help to decide on a rescore or retake. Cuz this yr i took ap bio as a freshie and i always got good scores on my practice tests and somehow i got a 2ā¦is it possible tht collegeboard didnt add my essay? i mean i walked outta tht room and felt really good about the testā¦of course i didnt take the course at school but at like an class outside of school tht prepared you for ur aps. And the teacher even predicated tht i would at least get a 4ā¦should i do a rescore? Thx! And it would be nice if u can reply asapā¦Btw everyone else in my class got either 4ās or 5āsā¦

@ Linda: I think you should request a rescore. I just requested one for my Calc BC exam. According to my collegeās report, I got a 3 with a 4 AB subscore, but this seems strange to me as I am normally not a weak student in math - 800 Math SAT, 790 Math Level II, 4 on Calc AB - and I took that test while I was in a very, very fragile mental state where I could barely do any studying (basically depression), but I tried my best. I also checked the FRQ answers on this forum right after the test and agreed with most of them. The AP Pass calculator says that I had to have earned less than half the points for a 3ā¦ it just doesnāt seem right. Even though Iām not one of those people who got all the points on every question, I didnāt think I did that poorly.

ok but can i ask if they lost my essay or snything? like before rescoring? and i thought they only rescored the mc and not the frqā¦i mean like can they still add my essay score if they didnt add it before? and which number do i call? sry this is all still kinda new to meā¦i didnt expect thisā¦

^ I believe when you ask for a rescore, they check to make sure that BOTH of your subscores were added. So, if your FRQs were missing from your score, I believe that they will correct it.

Can anyone else confirm this?

would they tell u on the report if ur missing something? like on the report tht u first get and not the rescoreā¦sry for all the questions but im totally freaking outā¦

Should I do a rescore? I got a 3 on English Lit and itās very possible I got a 4, although Iām not sure of itā¦

No to both questions.

so its worth it to get a rescore right? cuz i dont wanna waste money if my score is just gonna stay the same and collegeboard really wants our money dont they? i wonder if they do this kinda crap on purposeā¦but which number do i call?

Im going to rescore my apush exam

I got a 4 and was really expecting a 5. Should I rescore?

Only if youāre REALLY confident. And if you are, you have to blame that four on a failed MC grading.

No. Weāre all really expecting a 5 - unfortunately the curve keeps a majority of us from it. Take your score and leave rescoring to those who expected a 5 but actually got a 1 or 2.
