<p>So based on your one conversation with one admissions officer – if an exceptional student, who spends his entire interview discussing with great enthusiasm and knowledge his scientific research or art work or community leadership, but asks questions that could be found easily on the website, admissions would view that as a “bad” interview? Even if the report was highly positive and strongly recommended admission?</p>
<p>I think not. I know that’s not the case.</p>
<p>(And lack of knowledge in the school is not evidence that an applicant is a sociopath.)</p>
<p>It is true that one way students show interest in Brown is at their interview? Yes. If I feel a student is a “casual” applicant (and I’ve had quite a few this year), I do mention that in my report. However, I can have a “casual” applicant who is still outstanding – and it is my job to recruit this student so that if s/he does get into Brown, s/he will go.</p>
<p>I know this seems hard to believe at this stage, but one of our jobs as interviewers is recruitment. If any of our interviewees get accepted, we are supposed to call them and convince them to go to Brown.</p>
