Successful Transfer Applicants: Post your advice / tips

woah old thread...

wow, can you guys talk a little bit more about canadians transferrring to the states

so, I have a question..
I am currently a senior at highschool, due to a number of reasons, I was not able to apply as a freshmen this year and I will probabaly end up in U of T, or UBC and apply as a transfer next year, aiming for the very top schools.( well, i admit prestige plays a big role in my decision, but really, why are those skools prestigious, because they are just better.plus i don't like the major-decalration policy in canadaian skools, we have to sort of declare our major as soon as we getin, that just doesnt make sense., and we can have more opportunites in the states, better education.)

so my questions is....does the prestige of the skool you are attending affect your chance? its easier to transfer from yale to harvard, than say....from a community college..I know, it ultimately comes down to yourself, the applicant, but will that somehow affect the chance?

plus.....should I get as many leaderships as possible during the first year?
what kinds of activities do you suggest to participate in?
or any advice, I am willing take any advice, being mean..and picky....is ok for me.

Thanks
