Successful Website... How much will it help?

Hi, about 1 year ago I created a blog hosting website. Recently it has received a lot of unique hits (to put it into perspective, the number of CC’s non unique hits in one month = the number of my website’s non unique hits in a few hours). I coded and designed everything… it took approximately 100 hours. I also spend about 5 hours a day maintaining the website.

My question is: will this be viewed as a significant accomplishment? Will it be counted as a job? Every month I reap in about $1000 profit from advertisements.

<p>BTW I'm considering a major in EECS.
My website will probably garner even more popularity when it's admission time for me next year.</p>

<p>Hey I use php for websites too (both as a replacement for shtml and for actual programming things)! Isn't php great? Do you do MySQL too...? I don't, but in retrospect, I should have!</p>

<p>Anyways. That sounds cool, very entreprenurial. I don't see how it can be counted against you...and I think you could probably make it into a job (put it down under there) and just tell the college about it in a supplemental thing...but I don't know that much! Or you could put it down anywhere. What's most important is that they know about it and that you did it and how much commitment, skill, etc., it shows. Good luck.</p>

<p>Oh and what colleges are you looking at?</p>

<p>Yep, I love PHP. And yes I use MySQL databases. </p>

<p>I'm going to apply to top engineering schools (ie. Caltech, MIT, Cal, CM, etc.)</p>

<p>what's the website?</p>
