I had my Dartmouth interview last night, and now, I want to go to Dartmouth even more. It is probably the most selective school on my list, so I want to know if I have a chance. Hope my wishes and hopes come true ;)

[*] Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.):

I believe he is adding up the CR and Math scores and disregarding Writing. Darthmouth, if I recall correctly, does not seem to give much importance to the writing section.

Dartmouth weights the Writing section equally with the other two. Not sure on your exact class rank – but try to be solidly within the top 5% to have a decent chance.

last tiem i checked i was in top 6% but now its diff again casue of mid years…nevertheless, our school only does by deciles so first is all the matters…i think

Your school may list by decile, but the exact rank (6%) gives us better context to judge your GPA. Have students with similar stats from your school gotten in in the past?

It seems like you have a chance. Not a particularly good chance, but not a particularly bad one either. It’s completely possible with your numbers; the essays and LORs are crucial parts that we cannot see (but they’ll need to be very strong).

What is “honors precalculus AB/BC”? Never heard of precalc having such a division.

As an unhooked student, your course rigor and test scores don’t look strong enough IMHO. But you never know. Something about your intangibles might grab the adcom’s fancy. Did you send a music supplement? What instrument do you play?

Good luck at D and at your other schools. :)

i think you have a good chance; your stats definitely put you in the general consideration set. i think the challenge will just be standing out among the other applicants. good luck to you, though! I’m another anxious 2015 hopeful…anxious for the dartmouth decision as much as graduation in general :)
