Sufficient Math Level 2?

I scored 760 on Math 1 and 710 on Math 2. If my application is centered around an area of study unrelated to math, will these scores keep me out of, say, Stanford? (I have a 4.0 GPA and I'm currently in my second year of IB HL math. I took trig as a freshman and calculus as a sophomore. Multiple choice tests just aren't my thing.)

By the way, I'm taking literature in October.

If you don't want to do science, math, or engineering, then you're fine with a 710 on math 2.

bump - I really need a few more opinions on this matter. thanks.

That's a pretty tough call. I'd say it won't really hurt you too bad if you're gonna major in something that's not math related, but you should probably make that clear in your app.

I feel like if I retook Math 2 I could score an 800. But would this reflect poorly on my character? Would it make me appear 'anal'? As if numbers are all that really matter? Honestly, having a 710 doesn't bother me. But this isn't about me, it's about how admissions officers feel about me.

As far as I know, there is nothing wrong with retaking tests. If you're applying to Stanford, any advantage would help.

Honestly, this should be an absolute no-brainer...710 < 800.

Right, but same logic could be used to distinguish a 2310 from a 2400. Both are great scores, but there is no fundamental difference between a 2310 and a 2400. Still a 2310 < 2400. Retaking a 2310, however, might reflect poorly on one's character - it might make them appear anal, etc.

Your 760 on Math 1 is actually quite good and a 710 on Math 2 is fine.
They show you understand the concepts and can do math at a high level.

I think you should focus on other parts of you application and life.

I'd retake a 2310 for a 2400.
