Okay, so I'm a transfer student transferring to California State University Long Beach for fall 2013. After filling out the FAFSA application I was awarded two grants a pell grant for $3750 and a state university grant which is $5475. Needless to say I was quite relieved knowing that my tuition and everything is fully covered. Tuition at CSULB is $3131 per semester and with both grants the amount of aid is roughly $4600 each semesters, which is great! I was somewhat worried about how I could cover tuition, but now I can focus on finishing up ASAP taking 18 units per semester if the opportunity is there :)

So my question is in regards to following statement I was reading about the SUG grant on the universities website and came across the following, which I was hoping someone could further explain.

"The CSU provides SUG funding only for the completion of a student’s initial degree/credential at any educational level (initial Bachelor’s; initial Credential; initial Master’s; initial Doctorate). Students pursuing a second Bachelors, second Credential, second Masters, or second Doctoral degree are not eligible to receive a SUG award." - CSULB Enrollment Services

So are they referring to someone who has already completed a bachelors and is returning for a second bachelors degree after having graduated? I was planning to double major, but obviously I don't want to loose funding. My thinking was if pursing a second degree concurrently would negatively impact grant funding. I could simply take courses in both majors then wait until I'm close to graduating and declare the second major.
