suggest a few schools ?

Can you please suggest private/prep schools in and around Boston ?
Thanks!

(and good luck to all of those awaiting admission decisions)

@Iknowwhocares - I know from your previous thread, “Sophomore Year?,” that you’re a current freshman in France, moving to the Boston area this fall, where your mom is starting a fellowship at Harvard.

In order to get truly helpful suggestions on schools, you might want to do a little research, and come up with a list of things that you need/want in a school. Here are some criteria to consider:

boarding or day, or both? public or private?

location (what part of the metro area?)

all girls or coed?

size of school (number of students, size of campus)

urban or suburban or rural?

average class size?

number of teachers with advanced degrees?

academic rigor (average SSAT, or SAT for graduating students)?

sports, ECs, clubs, activities?

formal or casual?

Saturday classes?

areas of academic strength/weakness; things you enjoy studying, any great “passions”?

do you need financial aid?

Since you’re looking for admission for Fall 2012, there is the issue of whether or not a school that had an admissions deadline in January/February will accept a late application, and what your chance might be to be admitted.

There are LOTS of great schools in the Boston area (public and private, day and boarding) - but a great school for one student may be a terrible school for you. You need to refine your list of what you’re looking for in a school.

If you are looking for FA and applying past the deadline, it may be very difficult to get the FA you need. But good luck in your school search!
