I’ve pretty much finished my college list, but I’d like 1 or 2 private safeties to apply to. Here’s the list so far:

MIT (EA)

Stanford

Yale

Cornell

WUSTL

Rice

UC Berkeley

UCLA

Brown

UCSD/UCSB/UCSC

UC Merced

I’d like to major in chemical or biomedical engineering, but I’m still really interested in psychology. Do you think I even need any more safeties with UCSB/UCSC/UCM on my list? Any advice would be appreciated!

oh, and I'm in-state for the UCs, in case that wasn't apparent :)

UCSC is kind of a safety.

thanks, anyone else?

Due to the horrifying unpredictability of UC admissions, I would suggest finding a CSU you could live with, as a backup.

You are fine, with your profile and stat, I am pretty sure any of the lower UC would be a safety.

Are you ELC? If you are you really don't need any safeties, as you are guaranteed placement at most of the mid to lower tier UCs.

If not, i would suggest finding a CSU, as private safeties don't make much sense (why pay 45k a year for a safety?).
