I'm transferring to UT this fall and am going to orientation next Thursday. I was just wondering if there were any other bio/predent majors on here that could suggest me some professors or classes. Thanks!

Which classes? If you see the name Takata anywhere, do NOT even think about taking him.

I need all the prereq for dental. And is the course requirements for a bio degree still the same? I see on there that you need 4 semesters of a language but I recently spoke to a friend of mine that said he didn’t need 4 semesters.

And why is Takata bad? rough accent? lol

dr laude for chem

Maas for BIO 311C and BIO 311D, Laude for CH301 and CH302, Iverson for CH 310M and CH 310N (he didn’t teach 310n this spring and everyone was SO UPSET because he is literally the BEST professor in the college of natural sciences… I had Laude freshmen year and LOVED him and didn’t think I would get anyone better but Iverson was 100x better, his class is really hard to get into though- you have to be persistent just like getting into Laude’s class)

I agree on Laude. He’s awesome.

Is Maas better than Patterson? I’m currently enrolled in Patterson for Bio and McCord for Chem. I’ve read that McCord is tough but he prepares you well for admission exams like MCAT and DAT. I haven’t read anything on Patterson. But I don’t think I will be able to get into Laude. He’s only teaching one intro chem class and it’s full. Unless if it’s true that spots open up for every new registration, which is what I heard. Could anyone confirm if this is true?

They always have a waitlist at the start of every semester for filled classes, and as spots open up, they fill them from the waitlist. You can add a class up until the end of the 12th class day. Laude’s class will likely have about 50 names on the waitlist. But here’s a secret: after a certain time – I don’t know for sure, but I think it’s around eight or ten days, the waitlists are dissolved. Anyone who drops after that is not replaced, but the add/drop period is still active, so if you ask and if there’s a spot available, they can add you. For chemistry you ask at the lower division chemistry office in the main hallway under the big computer screen.
