hey
i'm an upcoming senior.. and i already have a list of colleges i am going to be applying to: williams, WUSTL, middlebury, grinnell, macalester, bates, american and clark. the problem is i dont have any true safeties... american and clark are low matches i would say.

condensed version of my stats:
-SAT: 2080 (740m, 670cr and w). most likely will retake to up writing
-doing full IB diploma with 4 highers (toughest courseload possible)
-UW GPA ~ 3.75, weighted is much higher. keep in mind that i'm sure NOBODY has a 4.0UW..it just doesnt happen at my school
- white girl...american citizen but i'm living internationally.
- ECs are pretty good. i'm involved with a few leadership positions.. very involved with community service
- recs should be good, essays pretty good

what i want in a school
- mostly small LAC BUT if it isnt going to be at one of my top choices listed above, i might want a bigger school with job/internship connections
- strong economics and foreign language programs, possibly pre law
-smallish. in a city would be ideal BUT i still want that campus/community feeling
- involved, aware student body. good record of putting students through grad/law school.
- no frat/sororities would be ideal
- mainly east coast and midwest, but will consider anything.
- DIVERSE student body .. esp in terms of international students...and i dont want the majority of students to be from instate or surrounding area.

any ideas??? please just throw out any suggestions for saftey schools..or matches!! thank you

I wouldn't discount Clark and American as good bets for you. In the midwest, Earlham and Beloit might be good safeties - both have strong academics, large international student populations, similar feel to Grinnell but in slightly larger towns/cities. On the east coast, check out Goucher, just outside of Baltimore. Apply EA and it's a decent safety for your stats.

i've already been looking into beloit. i like it, but just cant get excited about it. goucher looks like a possibility but the female/male ratio is awful.

keep the responses coming..

how many (more) safeties do you think i should add to my list .. which consists so far of clark and american...

You've got a very good list. American and Clark are safeties, as long as your family can afford them, you show some interest, and you write strong applications.
