Suggest some Safeties please!

Hey, I thought I had narrowed down my list, and it is fairly narrowed down but I wanted to make sure I had like real safeties, not safeties that I feel I doubt myself.

anyone? please D:

The University of Oregon offers a renown Honors College, good CompSci and Physics programs (my majors at U of O), good financial aid, and plenty of opportunities for internships in Portland. PM me if you have any questions!

RIT in Rochester, NY.

RPI, WPI… How much can your family afford? I assume you are in-state for CA? Then the CSUs.

cal poly slo, of course

How much is cost / financial aid a concern? Your safeties should be definitely affordable.

For admissions safeties, consider Cal Poly SLO, San Jose State (low safety based on [SJSU Admission](http://info.sjsu.edu/web-dbgen/narr/admission/rec-1208.html) ), and the mid-level UCs (e.g. Santa Cruz, Davis, Irvine; see [University of California - Freshman admission profiles](http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/freshman/profiles/index.html) and [University of California: StatFinder](http://statfinder.ucop.edu) ).

If you apply to Berkeley, note that Letters and Science (where you can declare the Computer Science major after completing the prerequisites) is generally regarded as being less selective for admissions than the EECS major in Engineering (both majors share the same Computer Science courses; the EECS major allows taking fewer CS courses if you want to emphasize EE, and has additional physics and EE course requirements).

Out of state, Minnesota is probably a low match, and Virginia Tech is probably a safety or low match, based on your stats. Both are less expensive than most out of state public universities.

If you want to work in Silicon Valley, note that students at local universities like Berkeley, Stanford, UC Santa Cruz, and San Jose State have the advantage of convenient recruiting in their career centers (companies don’t have to fly to recruit, and students don’t have to fly to interview).
