Suggested Freshmen Reading

A few weeks ago in the myNEU portal there was a little note about "Suggested Freshmen Reading" and it just listed a book that most freshmen should try to read if they had a chance this summer. Unfortunately now I can't find that under "Alerts" or wherever it was originally. Does anybody remember the name of the book?

Thanks.

It said required reading for me. and its Zeitoun by Dave Eggers.

Yes, that was it. On mine myNEU it also said that we are required to read it. If I remember well, they wrote that there’ll be a meeting with the author and some discussions on September 7th.

Frankly, I find it to be an amazing idea. I’ll probably start reading later in the summer.

I just got back from orientation this week and my group leader, a sophomore, said he never read the book and nothing happened to him. However, he said he wished he had read the book because there are many events that involve it.

Wow, you guys are so lucky that you get Dave Eggers as your author! I really hope upperclassmen are allowed to go to the discussion.

If you are curious about summer reading for freshman at other colleges, there is a thread on Parents discussion:
