I would like to suggest to the parents of HS Seniors and/or College Freshman a wonderful book titled: Don't Tell Me What To Do, Just Send Money

My daughter just finished her freshman year and I swear I only survived through the advice I received from this book. Parenting children and parenting almost adult children are so different. The wonderful child you raised can quickly become a surly young adult once she (he) has left the nest. Coming home that first time at Christmas is an eye-opener for sure; sleep habits have changed, they aren't used to checking in or having anyone ask where they are going and when they will be home. I would consider this a wise investment (under $12) and akin to a "Dr. Spock" for the late teen years.

I honestly wish I'd found it prior to the start of college but I am not exaggerating when I say that it profoundly changed our relationship when I was "given permission" to let her screw up :)

Cheers!

Thanks Centremom! From looking at the table of contents, the book looks like it has a wealth of information - practical stuff that applies thoughout the college years.

Thanks for the suggested reading, Centremom. Please see your private messages. :)

Thanks for the suggestion and link Centremom. I think we'll need it!
