What would you like the subject line to say?

Fine school - but you noted you were not interested in Bama and Missouri S&T due to being far away.

So wouldn’t Iowa State fall in that same bucket?

It’s a fine school, great national reputation, and certainly an outstanding choice if it’s the right fit for you.

It’s the kind of school one seeks when they are seeking a top education at an outstanding price.

Iowa state is a beast. Their engineering program is solid. We toured it last year; we were impressed. According to them - they have the largest career fair for engineering west of the the Mississippi. lots of kids come from chicagoland . Not as many people are familiar with ISU because the midwest isnt as populated as the coasts . . . but that doesnt mean it’s below par. You’ve got bright top kids attending, accomplished faculty and research opportunities. They turn out lots of engineers who go to work all over every year.

At Umass Amherst typically students are WL for CS but not denied admission to the school. You can gain entry to CS by achieving a certain gpa in some gateway classes as a freshman. S22 had a friend who had this plan - he actually got off the waitlist in the summer straight into CS. I know there is a transfer option from UMass Lowell as well but don’t know the particulars.

And Iowa state produced Brock Purdy, Mr. Irrelevant. He brought them some fame.
