Suggestions? Chances?

Hi there!

I'm a current freshman at Reed College and considering transferring. I'm torn because I love my classes and have some truely amazing professors, but I'm miserable socially. No matter what I do, I can't seem to fit in at all. Maybe I just need to be more outgoing, and believe me I would never consider transferring without thinking long and hard but I was kind of curious what sort of options were out there.

I'm willing to go anywhere in the country really. A liberal arts school would be nice (I like having lots of professor contact and stuff like here). I'm also a girl and wouldn't be opposed to a single-sex school. I really have no idea where my stats would put me...

Current GPA: Here's the stitch, I really don't know. Since grades are de-emphasized at Reed, I can't be sure where I fall until actual end of semester when I can check my grades. Also, keep in mind Reed has heavy grade DEflation. All that considered, my advisor said I'm doing "really really well" and seemed to be being honestly surprised/enthustiastic. Rough estimate, maybe 3.5+?

Current Course Load: Hum (all freshman take it), Physics, an Intro Religion class, Latin

Major: Classics, most likely

ECs: Ack. There really isn't a whole lot of time here... but I'm involved a bit with the theatre. :/

Recs: I know my advisor really well, and have good relationships with almost all my professors (as in, I attend office hours to talk on a relativly frequent basis).

High School Record:

GPA: 3.98 (one B in the first quarter of Honors Pre-Cal my sophmore year. I took 7 AP classes and 5 college classes... so, hardest course load I guess)

SAT: 1330 (old) (this is an estimate... I don't remember.)

ACT: 31

I also took 8 AP tests. I got 3 3's (AP Physics, AP Comparative Politics, AP American Gov), 4 4's (AP English Lit, AP English Lang, AP US History, AP Calculus BC) and 1 5 (AP World History)

ECs: I spent a considerable (like 10-40+ hours a week) of my Junior and Senior year involved in theatre as a technician. Also, Senior year I was in a class called Teaching Academy where I spent 3 hours a day, 3 days a week interning in an Elementary School classroom. I was in band for three years (had to drop out Senior year so I could take classes at the local CC) and was Drum Major my Junior year. :/ Not much, I guess.

So yeah. I have no idea how I got into Reed in the first place... but... does anyone have suggestions about schools I could look at if I ended up wanting to transfer?

Thanks!

I guess it's more a question of where else you'd rather be. I'd recommend browsing through CB and PR, using their counselor-o-matic programs and finding some schools that interest you.

Best of luck :)

Could you give us more details about Reed's social life? I may transfer to Reed... why do you say professors are amazing?
