Suggestions for Bio Tech/Bio Chem

My Daughter is from India and is planning to do Biotechnoloy/Bio Chemistry Undergraduate and she is planning to apply to the following colleges for Fall 2012 admissions.

1.University of Wisconsin Madison
2.Rutgers-New Brunswick
3.University of Georgia
4.Virginia Tech University
5.Texas A&M
6.Indiana-Bloomington
7.Purdue
8.WPI

She has SAT scores of 2260 and good EC's.Grades are also good and she is in the top 5% of the class as well

As she will be international student will join as full pay and dont'know the scholarship chances

Any suggestions for the good colleges for Bio Technology/Bio Chemistry???
I read in CC forums some of the colleges I mentioned above are party schools and students dont study much.I am confused

Need some good suggestions please
BTW she already got accepted in Rutgers in ED.!!

Is the goal medical school, work, or graduate study?

Rutgers is early action, not early decision, according to its [web page](
http://admissions.rutgers.edu/ApplyNow/ApplicationsAndTheBasics/WhenToApply.aspx).

If by biotechnology, you mean bioengineering and biomedical engineering, you can check [Accredited Program Search](http://main.abet.org/aps/Accreditedprogramsearch.aspx) , which lists 73 ABET-accredited degree programs in the subject. However, some high reputation schools have not sought ABET accreditation for their bioengineering or biomedical engineering degree programs, since PE licensing does not appear to be needed in the field.

If cost is a concern, Virginia Tech and Minnesota have lower list price cost of attendance than many other schools.

Yes.Rutgers EA

Goal Graduate study .No not Bio medical or Bio Engineering.Bio Technology or Bio Chemisty
is her field of Choice

Cost not a big concern. But IVY’s am sure are pretty expensive for full pay 40 ~45 K is fine

Full pay at many schools (including public schools for those not resident of the state that they are in) is over $50,000 per year.

Go to each school and put “cost of attendance” in its search box.

She should be aware that biology / biochemistry is a very popular major – there will be high levels of competition in undergraduate courses, admission to graduate study, and academic / research jobs for PhD graduates.

[Education: The PhD factory : Nature News](Education: The PhD factory | Nature)

You might find that some of the Ivies are cheaper than non-Ivies for foreign students. Your daughter seems to have pretty good credentials, and you might want to consider adding some more selective schools to her list. Going to a more selective college might help her get into graduate programs, and generally more selective colleges are less likely to be party schools – students have to study hard to get in, and they still study hard when they’re there.

Thanks for your comments. We have done an extensive research and narrowed down to the universities listed.
How about Penn state ??
