My D and I will be visiting on April 11th for Campus Day from California. We will only have about 36 hours there, so we want to make the most of it. Can anyone familiar with the area give us some ideas of what to see? Restaurants would also be helpful.

Wake Forest is located in an area known as the Reynolda Gardens. It's a beautiful park with a lot of fields, flowers, all that good stuff. There are some really nice, but expensive, restaurants located within the park, namely Village Tavern. A short drive from Wake (about 5 mins), you reach the epicenter of Winston-Salem eateries on Stratford Road. There is a restaurant literally every 20 feet on Stratford, and most are pretty reasonable.

If you're feeling adventurous, you can go downtown, and you should, to get a feel for what urban Winston is like. Again, there are a lot of REALLY nice places to eat while you're here, but they will be quite expensive.

Other things to see? I would go to Old Salem, about a 10 minute drive from Wake, if you're looking to learn about Winston-Salem's more cultural side. It's a beautiful area with many old fashioned-style shops and such, as well as the campus of Salem College.

Feel free to PM me or contact me when you're in Winston if you have any questions. I've been here forever!

Thank you so much! I may try to call and get reservations at Village Tavern, and take advantage of having a quiet dinner without the younger kids!

Yea. I'm a sophomore here. Message me if you need any help.

The Village Tavern is a fun place. I highly recommend it.
