Recommendation

My school counselor and I talk multiple times a week, he'll call me in often just to chat, should get an outstanding recommendation from him.

Jobs

Worked summer before junior and senior year, Salty Iguana and Arby's, approx. 15-20 hours a week.

I'd like to go to a school in a suburban area, but it's not a deal breaker. Looking to go to a smallish school, not too worried about Greek life or parties or anything. Considering law or politics but also possibly journalism. Really just hoping to find a place where I'll have lots of options and I'll be around people that are at my level academically. Money isn't really a problem so don't worry about it.

Bucknell ¶ not suburban
Villanova ¶ Catholic
Tufts (MA)

Best of luck in your search!

“Money isn’t really a problem so don’t worry about it.”

Excellent!

But just in case you’d like to feel a bit more love, take a look at this list: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/financial-aid-scholarships/848226-important-links-automatic-guaranteed-merit-scholarships.html</a> Your GPA and test scores put you in the running for some of them.

Take a look at the Liberal Arts Colleges listed in USNWR. Many of these would be good choices given your interests, preferences and grades. Take a look at the Common Data Set for each of those schools (google it) and you can see what your chances look like by comparing your academics to those of the admitted students.

The only tips you gave me are that you like law and politics and journalism. You didn’t state what state you’re from, if location/weather is a factor, what kind of program you want, liberal arts or university, big or small, social life. You’re giving us nothing to work with. I can suggest to you an excellent list of schools: safeties, targets, and reaches, but you have to help us help you.

I’m from Kansas, I’d like to attend school on the East Coast though it isn’t a huge factor, weather isn’t big either though I’d prefer somewhere that isn’t always cold. Looking for four-year school, possibility to double major, hoping to enter the honors program, would prefer university but not ruling out liberal arts. Medium sized to small, looking for a place where I’m “not just a number”, don’t really care about social life all that much, I’m as happy out and about as I am at home reading a book.

Safeties: GW, American,
Target: Boston College, Claremont Mckenna
Reach: Georgetown, Vanderbilt, Penn, Duke
Far Reach: HYPS
just a few…

I’d recommend checking out Amherst College, Columbia University, NYU, Boston University, and Northeastern University.

Look at Williams. They like academics/music/athletics combinations. Also, Dartmouth, Amherst, Bowdoin.

Plan to submit a performance tape as a supplement to your application, even if you do not intend to major in music. This is especially valuable for small LACs.
