suggestions for computer science in cali or near nyc

<p>I'm from NJ and I hope to go to college in california or near the nyc area.
I know of caltech and harvey mudd, but i'm pretty sure i'll get the reject envelope.
New jersey colleges don't really appeal to me, but i'm planning on applying to rutgers as a safety.
Could someone give me a few suggestions of decently ranked computer science schools
where there's a good chance i could get in ?

planning to take aps senior year
(computer science, physics, calc ab, psychology)</p>

<p>SATS: 650cr/770m/670w (hope to raise cr + w)
EC's (pretty lousy):</p>

<p>International Heritage Club 9, 10, 11
Math League 10, 11
Stage crew (set designer) 11
Spring Track 10</p>

<p>In New York State: RPI, Marist and a little further away, RIT.</p>

<p>Near NYC? You have tons of options.</p>

<p>Columbia is a top 20 CS program. NYU and SUNY Stony Brook are probably top 40. Polytechnic is solid.</p>

<p>If you're willing to go out into the non-NYC part of the state, there's Cornell (top 10), RPI (top 50), and Syracuse.</p>

<p>In California...most of the biggies, really. Stanford and UC Berkeley are top 10. USC, UCLA, UC-Irvine, UC-San Diego, and UCSB are all top 50.</p>
