Suggestions for Match Schools?

I know I’m cutting it pretty close, but I would like some suggestions for any other match schools. I’ve already applied to Case Western, and am also applying to University of Rochester and Wake Forest University. I also got deferred from Michigan, so I guess that application is still up in the air.

I’ll probably end up sending both my SAT and ACT because each showcase a different ability in math and English. Thanks!

Carleton, Colby, Hamilton and Haverford offer excellent pre-med support as well as strength in your major. These colleges would be more selective than your current match choices, but still within your range based on your profile.

Definitely.

I’ll definitely look into those schools! Are there any national research universities that may be a good fit for me? Also, if there is a particularly good engineering school, I would be fine with applying as a biomedical engineering major.

Carnegie Mellon and U. of Pittsburgh are obvious choices, although Pitt is more a safety for you, and merit aid deadlines might have already passed.

I was looking at Carnegie Mellon, but I’m not sure if that is actually a match for me with an acceptance rate so low.

Based on your previous threads, it seems you have researched larger schools fairly thoroughly. (I’d say, though, that opportunities for research might be greater at smaller schools.) However, you might want to look into Emory.

All of your choices should be considered in light of your possible interest in a biomedical engineering major. Tech-focused schools, should they seem appealing to you (such as RPI) could be an option for you.

Northeastern sounds like a good option. It’s a co-op school, so check out the co-op program and see if it’s something you’re interested in. It’s a very common cross-application with Case / Rochester. BU is a good option as well.

William & Mary

I’ll definitely look into the smaller liberal arts schools. One that I know a lot of my friends are applying too is Vassar, but I’m not sure about their biology program. Any thoughts on that?

@sparkykoolkat

I assume that your friends are as intelligent as you…so what does that tell you? :slight_smile:

Vassar recently completed a state-of-the art $125 million science center.
Research is an integral part of the biology curriculum, which is one of the many reason students are very successful with med school admissions.

If size is a consideration, Vassar is >30% larger than the small LACs.

I go to Vassar. The bio department is well-regarded and there is very good pre-med support.

If you have any interest in other smaller schools, definitely check out Macalester - it would be a match with your stats and the application deadline is 1/15, so you would still have a decent amount of time to apply.
